This morning, most fans woke up to the news that the official trailer for Marvel’s Avengers 4, now titled Avengers: Endgame, had been released. After watching it about ten times in the last few hours, I have many, many thoughts on the trailer, and even more questions than before.

The trailer opens with a shot of Tony’s helmet, beaten and nearly destroyed. Tony turns it on, and begins to send a message to Pepper Potts.

In the message, Tony tells Pepper that in a few days, he will die, adrift in space. He ensures her that no matter what, when he goes, he’ll be thinking of her.

We then see shots of the Milano and Tony sitting in the cockpit, looking defeated.

The trailer cuts to a scene of Thanos’ farm, and his armor on a pole, imitating a scarecrow, as seen many times in the comics.

We then see Thanos walking through a field, touching the flowers beneath him. He looks like he may be wearing a broken down infinity gauntlet.

We are then taken to the Avengers base.

Steve Rogers is shown to be broken.

We see Bruce Banner standing in front of a holographic screen, looking at pictures of Scott Lang and Shuri.

If you look closely, it shows that Shuri is missing. This leads me to believe that maybe something happened to her after the snap, considering the team was in Wakanda, and would’ve seen her after the battle.

The screen also shows that Scott Lang is missing, going back to the after-credits scene from Ant-Man and the Wasp where Scott gets stuck in the quantum realm.

The screen then switches to show Peter Parker as missing. This makes sense, as they currently have no information on the survival of Tony, Dr. Strange, and Peter, considering they went to space at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War.

We see Thor in a room of some sort. This could be a room at the base, but it kind of looks like a prison cell for super powered individuals.

The trailer then cuts to the moment that all fans have been waiting for. We see, from behind, an assassin looking individual. He holds in his hands a sword.

We see his mask come off, and it is revealed to be Clint Barton, formerly known as Hawkeye, now known as Ronin.

It’s very exciting to see Clint back in the films.

It cuts to a scene where Natasha and Steve are discussing some sort of plan. Steve ensures Natasha that he has to do this to save everyone, putting the weight of the universe on his shoulders. There is a shot where he looks at a picture of Peggy Carter, which makes me wonder where we will see our heroes travel to in the timeline. In this scene, we also see the return of a fan favorite suit for Captain America.

Cap is seen wearing his ‘Stealth Suit’ from the hit film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The trailer then cuts to black and the title card is finally revealed.

Avengers: Endgame

The end scene in the trailer shows Scott Lang trying to get into Avengers Headquarters.

Steve wonders if it is an old message.

Natasha informs him that it is live, and happening right then. Steve looks excited to know that he hasn’t lost EVERYONE. The trailer then ends, revealing that the film will be released in April of 2019.

In my opinion, this trailer was perfect. It gave us little hints of the film and held back plot details. It allowed us to get a glimpse of our favorite characters and see where we will meet them in a few months.

With the new trailer, we also received a new poster. It incorporates the classic ‘A’ logo, but with a snap-themed twist.

Of course, the trailers bring new questions. Why is Tony Stranded? Where is Rocket and War Machine? Where has Clint been? Is his family dead? How long has it been since the snap? How did Scott escape? How will Tony get home? Is Thanos farming veggies or fruits?

There are so many questions, but regardless of what we ask, I’m sure all of our questions will be answered in what is about to be the longest five months of every geek’s life.

What did you guys think about the trailer? Are you excited? What theories do you have and no longer have after this trailer? For any updates on Avengers: Endgame, and all things geek, don’t forget to follow us @GEEKMOTIVATION.
